A Message from Chairman and CEO Fred Hassan

At Schering-Plough we are proud of what we do and of what we have accomplished in the past five years.

Our company begins with science. We seek to discover and make available new and innovative medicines for the patients and physicians who need them -- and for the veterinarians, farmers and others who care for animals.

We have made great progress since 2003 when we launched our Action Agenda. This has been our road map for building a company that can meet our goal to deliver high performance for the long term. Today, our company is pursuing a broad array of exciting growth opportunities.

The strength and diversity we built under the early years of the Action Agenda enabled us last year to acquire Organon BioSciences N.V. (OBS) of the Netherlands, beginning an important and exciting chapter in our company's transformation. With the Organon franchises, we become a world-class leader in women's health and fertility treatments. With Intervet, the animal health unit of OBS, we become one of the largest animal health organizations in the world. And the expertise and broad project base we had built in our R&D organization has been supplemented by important pipeline projects from the Organon portfolio.

Our new combined company can now do more for the patients, doctors, customers and other stakeholders who depend on us. Meanwhile, we stay resolutely committed to a culture of integrity, to doing what is right for the patients, and to driving high performance for the long term. Our vision remains constant: To earn trust, every day.

One important reason we are confident about this company's future is our people. The colleagues who drive Schering-Plough are the reason for our progress to date. And they will be the reason for our success in the future.
